Brown County Commissioner
District 1
Mary is running for Commissioner because she believes she has the skills to effectively be able to fulfill the job requirements. She believes that elected officials are nothing more than civil servants who are given the opportunity to serve the public and she would like to have the opportunity to serve ALL Brown County residents.
Mary currently works for Clarian Health at HealthNet. HealthNet is Indiana’s largest Federally Qualified Health Center, serving more than 40,000 patients. It’s network of community-based health centers and support services are located throughout Indianapolis. Mary is the Human Resources and Employee Relations Manager for over 425 HealthNet employees. Mary loves her job at HealthNet and states, "it feels good to go home at the end of the day knowing you have helped at least one person that day".
Mary and her husband moved to Brown County in 2001. They joined Church of the Lakes and have been involved with the youth and the music ministries. Mary was a volunteer Brown County GAL (Guardian Ad Litem) for two years. She is also an Advanced EMT and Ambulance Lieutenant on the Cordry Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Department. She is currently enrolled in an EMT Primary Instructor course and hopes to very soon be able to teach others that would like to be an EMT.
Prior to moving to Brown County, Mary lived on the East side of Indianapolis. She attended St. Simon Grade School, John Marshal High School and I.U.P.U.I. Growing up, Mary’s father was involved in politics, serving as a precinct committeeman and Ward Chair for many years. Her father’s involvement resulted in Mary having a life-long interest in politics. She married her high school sweetheart, Mike Fouch, in 1974, and August 31, 2008 will be their 34th Anniversary. She and Mike have two adult children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and three granddaughters, Emma-age 9, Emily-age 8 and Kristina-age 8. Mary also has one dog, a pug, named Frank.
