David Harden

Brown County Surveyor

I am David K Harden the Democratic Candidate for the Office of the Brown County Surveyor.

I spent the past 25 years associated with the County Surveyor's Office. In March 2007, I was appointed Surveyor after the death of my friend and business partner John Rudd. I have over a quarter century of experience and knowledge in the surveying field. My father, Weber Harden, was an engineer, and growing up I enjoyed working summers on survey crews. I learned at a very young age how to run the survey instrument and enter distances and variations to build bridges and roads. I worked for Associated Engineering Consultants from 1967 until 1975. I then worked for Harden Engineers from 1975 until March 1983. March 1983 I started working for Bob Allen, County Surveyor. In 1996 John Rudd was elected County Surveyor and we worked together until March 2007.

My wife Tonya and I both have lived here all of our lives. Tonya works for the Prosecutor's Office as the Victims' Advocate. We decided long ago that this is the best place to live, work, get involved in our community and to raise our children. Our daughter Tasha, 19, is a sophomore at Franklin College, our daughter Erika, 16, is a sophomore at Brown County High School, and our son Chandler, 15, and is a freshman at Brown County High School.

I also have two sons Ryan, 26, and Aaron, 22, who reside in Brown County and both have enjoyed helping in the office over the years. I look forward to sharing the experience of surveying with my 1 year-old grandson Cash as he grows older.

I have worked hard for you in the surveyor's office for over two decades. I want to continue to serve you as Surveyor.
