[Under Construction]

Darrell Kent

Brown County Commissioner

District 3

My objective is to give all of the people of Brown County a voice in their county government.

*An elected official is a public servant who should serve the citizens of Brown County.

*An elected official should be available to speak with people that have concerns.

*All citizens should be treated equal regardless of party affiliation or social standing.

*Appointments made by the County Commissioners should be made based on who is the best qualified and suited for the position.

I believe that we have plenty of qualified people to fill county employment positions. We have few job opportunities for our citizens and I think the jobs in county government should go to people who live in Brown County. We do not need to go out of the county. I also disagree with our taxpayers furnishing vehicles and the fuel for employees who don’t live here. Think about it, they don’t even pay any taxes in our county to help support the expense of our government!

I believe I possess the skills and the long-time knowledge of Brown County and the issues it faces to effectively represent our citizens.

I grew up at Belmont and attended the Belmont grade school for eight years. From there I attended and graduated from Nashville High School in 1954.

In November 1957 I married Evelyn Kritzer. In May 1958 I was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years, of which eighteen months was spent in Germany. Upon my honorable discharge from the Army I returned to my job at Cummins Engine Company at Columbus.

While employed at Cummins I completed the Journeyman’s Machine Repair program. I retired from Cummins in 1985 as a machine repairman. Even after my retirement I continued to work for Cummins under contract as a machine repairman for several years. I also owned and operated a school bus here in Brown County for ten years.

Evelyn and I have three children, Debbie, Doug and Becky…all of whom live in the county and close to us. We have three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

I have a lifelong love of Brown County and the people who live here. I look forward to serving the citizens of Brown County with honesty, integrity, and respect.
