[Under Construction]

Jerry Pittman

Brown County Council

As a lifelong resident of Brown County, I have a strong desire to give back to my community by serving the residents of this great county without regard to partisan politics. As a Council member I would work with members of both parties and related entities to balance the budget as quickly and equitably as possible to ensure that the taxpayer’s money is used wisely. I feel that with my professional and personal life experience I can bring fresh new ideas to the table.

I was born in Nashville, Indiana, on January 29th, 1949 and have called this beautiful county my home since that time. The Pittman ancestors moved to Brown County in 1868 and my mother, Wilma, lives on the original homestead. Pittman Farms still owns over 300 acres and I continue to farm the land that my family first settled over 140 years ago. I currently reside on State Road 46 just east of the farm with my wife Debbie. I have two daughters, Leigh Ann, 21, Jerrica, 19, two step-children Danielle and Aaron, and one step grandson, Jackson, who is 1 year old.

I graduated from Brown County High School in 1967 as President of my class and a member of the National Honor Society. In 1973 I graduated from Cincinnati Christian University with a B.S. degree in Education. I am a Technician Class Amateur radio operator, have a Commercial Pilot Certificate, an Indiana Commercial Drivers License and am a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

I co-founded Pittman Oil and Gas Inc. with my father, Bill Pittman, in 1977.

I owned and operated the corporation until 2001 when I sold the business.

As part of Pittman Oil and Gas, I owned and operated the Fruitdale Market Gas & Convenience Store from 1985 to 2002. I am the founder of Jerry Pittman Realty LLC, under which my wife, Debbie, and I owned and operated Arbor Manor Apartments—a 110-unit complex--in Mooresville from 2002 to 2007. We also develop commercial and residential property in Brown County. I was President of the United Midget Racing Association in 1998—a 250 member association. In 2004 I founded Innovative Auto Services and most recently started J & B Sandblasting.

I served as a part-time minister for 17 years in Brown, Jackson and Lawrence Counties. I found my permanent Christian home at First Christian Church in Columbus, Indiana and have been an active member since 1991. I served as a Children’s Ministry Team Leader and member of the Finance Ministry Team organizing and establishing the church budget. I have also participated in five different mission trips with First Christian Church to Vida Nueva, Mexico, where we worked to clean and fix a local church and its community.
