Cindy Steele is currently serving a term as the county council member for her district and has accepted the leadership role as president. In 1995 Cindy started publishing her own magazine called Our Brown County. The intent was to acquaint readers of the unique character of our community through a positive mix of current and historical features. In the process of building up the business she learned a great deal about the county and became familiar with many longtime residents and community business leaders. She served terms on the Brown Convention and Visitors Bureau board and the Brown County Chamber of Commerce. For 15 years prior to starting the business she installed, designed and supported accounting computer software for Home News Enterprises, Westinghouse, and Burroughs Corporation (now UNISYS). Her track record proves she can handle a lot of responsibility and meet big challenges. She has a Bachelors Degree from Indiana University’s School of Business where she concentrated in transportation and public utilities. Cindy says starting a business was a risky adventure but her most rewarding accomplishment happened when, at the age of 40, she gave birth to her only child Evan. He is now thirteen years old and attends Brown County Junior High. |
